I’ve done a separate page about it here.

Just came from surgeon’s office where he extracted the bot fly with tweezers. I was in Costa Rica 8 weeks ago and had a mosquito bite on my hand that would not heal. 8 weeks later the alien appeared. No one was able to id it at the clinic–had course of antibiotics and saw a wound specialist. How does your wound look now? Will I have a bad scar? It is gross!
Hey Julie – the doctor that saw mine was a bit scalpel happy and so I have a tiny 1cm x 1cm cross shaped scar. And for all that, and the resultant pain, he didn’t manage to extract it!
The scar is almost invisible unless you know where it is. If it came out of its own accord then I imagine you’ll have less of a scar as it’s a more ‘natural’ wound.
